El Medano is the main destination for windsurfers. It is situated in South-East Tenerife and here the NE trade winds strike the strongest due to the acceleration caused by the proximity of Mt. Teide. If you enjoy waves, however, you should plan your trip in winters since by that time they are at their picks. El Medano Bay is for intermediate and advanced windsurfers. For starters it is recommended instead South Tenerife where winds are most of the times very mild since they are blocked by the Mt. Teide.
