Romeria in Orotava
The romeria is a very traditional annual event that happens in some towns of Tenerife. One of the biggest of such events happens in June in La Orotava, a town located in North Tenerife.
It is a festivity in honour of San Isidro Labrador and Saint Mary de la Cabeza (“romeria” in Spanish means pilgrimage and consists in a religious and spiritual journey full of joy and passion).
In 2006 more than 40000 people dressed with the traditional costumes and participated to this events.
What is the Romeria? Dances, fiesta, typical costumes, joy and, of course, lots of typical drinks and foods (such as meats, potatoes and eggs).
