Loro Parque
The Loro Parque is an attraction in Tenerife that you cannot miss if you come to the island! The Loro Parque is located in Puerto de la Cruz, in North Tenerife. The Parque (which means "park" in spanish) opened in 1972 with 150 parrots. Since then, the Parque has grown exponentially and now there are over 3000 parrots representing over 300 species. The Loro Parque however is a lot more that only Loros (which means "Parrots" in spanish). In fact it offers many other attractions as well. Continue reading below to get a better idea of what the Loro Parque has to offer you.
Loro Parque Attractions include among other things:
-
Loro Show: If you come to Loro Parque, you must of course
see the Loro Show! It all started 30 years ago when this show
was the first one in Europe. You will be amazed when you will
see beautiful parrots flying over your head and you will be
impressed to see them riding roller skates and bicycles or even
doing mathematical calculations!
-
Dolphinarium: Sit comfortably under the shade of a huge
amphitheatre and enjoy this memorable and unique dolphin show
at the Loro Parque. By the way, with more than 7000 m3 of saltwater
changed every single day and a impressive care from the staff,
it is not wonder that the dolphins in Loro Parque are not stopping
of having kids between shows.
-
Planet penguin: Can you see penguins in the Tropics?
In the Loro Parque in Tenerife you can! Thanks to a state-of-the-art
machinery and sophisticated equipments, the Loro Parque has
create the perfect habitat for hundredths of penguins which
live in complete freedom under the dome. And remember that seeing
penguins is a chilly adventure! Temperature in fact reach below
0 Degrees Celsius even if we are in the tropics!
-
Sea Lion Show: A show that will make everybody smile!
And if you are lucky enough (and handsome) you will eventually
get a kiss from a beautiful Sea Lioness!
-
Orcas Ocean:
From June 3rd 2006, you can experience in Tenerife an unforgettable Orca Show at the Loro Parque. I told you that the Loro Parque has a lot more than Loros (Parrots).
-
Orchids: Whenever you will visit Tenerife Loro Parque
attraction you will enjoy hundredths and hundredths of orchids
in flower!
-
Discovery Tour:
If not the first time you visit the Loro Parque, the second time I recommend you to take part of the Discovery Tour where you will walk and see the places behind the scenes and see how the Loro Parque works. The tours run daily and they last almost 2 hours. You should call the Loro Parque to make your reservation since the groups cannot exceed 20 people.
The Loro Parque is open every day from 8:30am to 6:45pm with the last entrance at 4:00pm. Daily service of free transport are available from Puerto de la Cruz.
